8th Annual Blue Mind Summit

A few weeks ago I got the chance to meet Wallace J Nichols PhD, author of #BlueMind at the 8th Annual Blue Mind Summit in Miami to explore the link between health and water. This year’s theme was #WaterisMedicine whereby the healing ability of waters and oceans were explored against a backdrop of themes including surfing, swimming, floating, boating, beaches, lakes, rivers, aquariums and even virtual water.

''That awe we get from waters and oceans inspires us to explore, to learn, to connect with each other, to build empathy and creates joy, provokes collaboration, and enhances romance.” Dr. Paul Piff, Department of Psychology & Social Behavior at the University of California

In 1972 an iconic image of earth was captured from a million miles away. It looked like a little blue marble. Decades later, marine biologist Wallace J Nichols PhD initiated the Blue Marbles Project and set out to pass a blue marble through every person's hand on earth, with a simple message of gratitude along with it. Since that time blue marbles have been shared around the world with millions of people in celebration of our beautiful, fragile, planet, carrying the simple and clear message that #WaterIsLife.

I really enjoyed the conference because as an Ocean lover who’s inspired by water, it really touched me. I always said that with photography, I like to share the magical enchantment , the passion and the peace I feel when I’m at the beach, in the water, watching the waves and the pastel sky.

Anything related to the ocean always makes me feel good. It’s the feeling I get being underwater when I’m scuba diving, at the surface snorkelling, swimming or floating, when I’m reading poems, or hearing songs about the water, reading books about mermaids and underwater kingdoms, thinking about all the colorful fishes and creatures on the other side of the world.

I like to say that I’m an ocean child or a half-ocean girl.
